Mojang Studios – Building TA From Scratch and Supporting People & Culture
Background & Starting Position
Recommended by has supported Mojang since 2019 as interim HR- and Talent Acquisition Manager, and long term partner in People & Culture. There was no TA-function in the organization when we started.
Mission
To build an internal, value driven recruitment function from scratch, and simultaneously fortify People & Culture processes which helps the organization to grow sustainably.
Approach
We built and professionalized the TA-function: competency based methods, interview kits, manager coaching, bias training, implementation of ATS, and a career site to strengthen the employer brand and pool of candidates. Parallel to this, we supported HR business partners in onboarding (including automatization), performance and development processes, assessment tools, manager policies and hybrid workplae strategies. The work has also been data driven through Mojang's people data to develop insights and translate them into improvements.
Results & Impact
Mojang obtained a more established and self-supporting TA-function, and a clearer, more unified way of working with recruiting. Managers became more secure in their part of the process, and People & Culture processes improved over time.
